Your Message Should Be Clear and Concise

When you communicate with others, you should make sure that the message you deliver is clear. No one wants to listen to someone that rambles on and on.
In addition, if you go on for too long, then there’s the tendency that someone will tune out.
In order to be clear and concise, prepare first. Have a good understanding of what the main point is of what you want to say.
Put it down in paper. Highlight the best part. Eliminate what is not necessary because if the details are not adding to the main point, you will lose the significance of your content.
Be Fully Present

Your communication skills are enhanced when you are fully present. Be present to who you are speaking to. Be present to the moment. When you allow yourself to be easily distracted, it distracts others too.
People can’t focus on your message if you are unable to. You should always be present so that you can deliver effectively.
You Should Listen To & Acknowledge Others
Being a good communicator is not just about delivering your message. You also have to be receptive to what other people are saying.
When you are having a conversation with someone, it can’t all be about you.
Yes, you want to get your point across. That is fine. However, after, you need to actually listen to what the other person is saying.
That way, there is a good flow and a better understanding between people.
By being a better listener, you develop a good rapport with others. We all want to be heard and understood.
Be Aware of Your Tone

The tone in which you deliver your message affects how well the message would be received.
If you are enthusiastic and passionate, others would feel that from you. That enthusiasm and passion will rub off on them and they will be excited about your ideas and projects.
However, if you speak in a monotonous tone and sound defeated or bored, people will tune off or fall asleep.
You want people to care about what you are saying. So get psyched about your message. If you don’t care, why should they?
Ask Questions To Better Refine Your Message
It’s always good to ask questions. Asking questions matters because sometimes what we intend is not always what is perceived.
You might have to clarify what you are saying. You might have to get specific.
Good communication is a two-way street. That means that you have to be willing to take the feedback. It means that you have to respond to others. It means that you have to make sure that you were in fact understood.
