How to Boost Your Energy & Stay Motivated

I consider myself to be a passionate person. When I go after things, I feel very strongly about it because I care.

However, even though I’m a passionate person, it doesn’t mean that I don’t have moments when I feel drained.

I have moments when I’m not too excited about my dreams, goals, and future. Life happens and we all have moments like this.

The question is how do we keep going when it seems easier to call it quits and remain in bed? Here are some tips that help me to boost my energy and stay motivated.

Get Some Rest to Boost Your Energy

Yes, sometimes you just have to stay in bed. We can’t underestimate the power of rest. When your body is feeling fatigued, pay attention to it.

Be able to give it the rest that you deserve. Don’t allow yourself to run till you are empty.

Having enough rest means that you get enough sleep. I admit getting a good night’s sleep is not easy.

There are days when I’m up to 11 and 12, then I suddenly wake up by 2am and 3am, say some prayers and then start scrolling through my phone. This is not a healthy sleep routine.

What I’m learning to do is treat myself like a child and give myself a night curfew. I try my best to go to sleep by 10pm and resist the urge to aimlessly scroll through social media late at night.

I’m not always perfect at this but I know that the days I commit to it, my body is thankful. I have more energy to carry on with my day.

Prioritize Your Day

I will always be the girl with the notebook and pen having a to-do list. It really makes my life easier. Plus, it keeps me motivated.

Having priorities enables you to know what is the most important thing that needs to get done first in your day.

Know what you need to do first so that you stay motivated and can accomplish something. No matter how little the chore or task, having priorities enables you to be efficient.

Make Time for Exercise

When your to-do list piles up, making time for exercise can seem like the last thing you want to do.

As much as I know the benefits of working out, I at times slack on my workout routine and this affects me greatly.

When I don’t exercise, it affects my mood and energy.

One of the ways that I try to make time for exercise is by reminding myself of the advantages of what it brings to my life.

A way for you to make time for exercise is to also remind yourself of why it is important.

Also, to remain accountable, make a commitment by signing up for a gym, having group classes or a personal trainer.

Let Self-Care Become a Lifestyle

We ladies love to discuss self-care and it matters. However, when we discuss self-care, we limit it to only having days at the spa or getting a manicure/pedicure.

We’ve got to do more than that. Let self-care become a lifestyle. Make time to treat yourself as often as you can.

Also, don’t only focus on the physical appearance. How are you treating your mind? Are you checking in with yourself? Are you understanding and managing your emotions, thoughts, and feelings?

Self-care is also being good to the mind because that is ultimately the best way to treat ourselves. Once we get our mind right, it gives us the motivation and energy to carry on with our days.

Remember How Far You’ve Come

Sometimes, we don’t take the time to appreciate our efforts because we are always so focused on what more we need to do. We think about all the things that we still don’t have, and we forget how far we have come.

Who you were five to ten years from now is not the same person, is it? What you’ve been able to do now that you didn’t do just a few months ago is commendable.

Have you taken the time to appreciate yourself for how far you’ve come? You being alive and well is a reason to celebrate.

Ask God to Lead You

When you don’t feel the energy to move and stay motivated. Get down on your knees and pray to the ultimate creator.

Ask him for help, guidance, and strength. Ask him to fill you up. Ask him to show you how to move better.

Whatever request we make known to our father, be rest assured that he hears you and he has promised that all things work for the good of all those who love the Lord.

Switch Up Your Routine

The life we are living right now is what we currently only know and have. Be willing to incorporate some change and newness to your routine.

Spend time in a different environment. Speak to new people. Try a different hairstyle. Changing up your routine can fill your spirit with new energy and a fresh motivation.

Get Inspired by Someone Else’s Journey

When we go through life’s challenges and difficulties, it feels like we are the only ones in the world. Yet, there are other people who have gone ahead of you. They know what it’s like to go through those same difficulties. They have those same pain-points.

Get inspired by another person’s journey so that you know that you are not the only one. When you are willing to listen and learn, it can serve as the encouragement you need to keep moving forward.

Final Thoughts

Boosting your energy and staying motivated is not an easy thing to do. Life happens and we can quickly find ourselves feeling grumpy and drained.

There are days when the light at the end of the tunnel feels impossible to see. During those days, give yourself grace. Take the time to reflect on you. Take the little steps necessary to crawl before you can start walking. You’ve got this.
