Seven Bad Traits to Get Rid Of

As we approach the end of another year, you find it common that people start to re-assess their life. They look forward to new goals. They resolve to do better in different aspects of their life from work, family and relationships.

It’s good to reflect on your year and life. As you re-assess, there are a few things you could do to add a touch of positivity to your life. There are a few traits that you could get rid off.

Judging Others Before You Know Them

Give others a chance by getting to know and understand them before you draw a conclusion. When you treat others based on assumptions or things you heard, you’re not operating from your own analysis.

The truth is that each and every person has a unique story as to why they are the way they are. Each and every person in life has gone through dark moments, made mistakes and failed.

It’s what makes us human. Be willing to accept that we are all just human trying to live well and do the best we can.

Using People’s Vulnerabilities To Mock Them

Kindness can never go out of style. A moment of kindness can have such a great impact on someone’s life.

If you recognize a pain point in someone’s life, the worst thing you can do is mock them from it. That’s like adding salt to a wound.

Don’t be the person that kicks someone when they are already down. Offer some encouraging and supportive words or just don’t say anything.

If someone has given you the privilege of their being vulnerable and letting you into their life, respect that.

Indulging in Gossip & Bashing Others

We might think that gossip is just fun gist at the moment. However, the consequences of it can be disastrous because you participate in dragging a person’s name in an unfavourable light.

Imagine if it were you, would you like it if others sat around chatting about you and putting you down? If you wouldn’t want someone to do that to you, then why treat others in that manner?

Downplaying Others Pain & Struggles

Everyone has a right to feel whatever way that they do. When someone is honest enough about their feelings, stop dismissing them. They are allowed to feel down, sad, or alone.

Don’t start comparing your own struggles with theirs. Acknowledge people’s feelings and stop dismissing them.

Using & Manipulating Others for Your Gain

It is just plain wrong to use others for your gain. Be genuine in the way you relate to others.

Are you friends with someone because you like them or are you after what you can get from them? Are you in a relationship where your feelings are real or are you just using your partner to prove something?

Question the things that you do and the way that you interact with others. Be genuine about your actions and intentions.

Hating Others for their Success & Happiness

When someone has achieved something and stepped into a new feat in their life, it won’t kill you to congratulate them for it.

Don’t spend time comparing your own life to them and hating them for having something you don’t. What is the point of that? Wish others well and focus on yourself.

The way you treat others will always come back to you so do good.

Holding on to Grudges & Anger

You don’t have to accept people back into your life after they have done you wrong but you can choose to forgive them and let it go. After all, you too are not perfect and would want forgiveness for your wrongs.

It can be difficult to forgive & let things go but it gives you peace of mind. The more you hold on to anger towards others, the more you poison yourself with negativity and disturbance.
